In this post, I want to discuss a few trends that have caught my attention recently and how they may impact the way we approach social media moving forward.


Video Content is King: If you haven't already incorporated video into your social media strategy, now is the time to start. According to recent studies, video content gets higher engagement and reaches more people than static images or text-based posts. Additionally, with the rise of TikTok and Instagram Reels, we can expect to see even more focus on short-form video content in the coming months.


Authenticity and Transparency Reign Supreme: Consumers crave authenticity from the brands they follow on social media. They want to see the people behind the content and get a glimpse into what's happening behind the scenes. This means being transparent about your values, how you treat your employees, and the impact your business has on the world. Social media is a powerful tool for building trust and establishing a genuine connection with your audience.


Social Commerce is on the Rise: Social media platforms have been experimenting with e-commerce features for a while now, but in 2021 we can expect to see them become more prevalent. Instagram has already made strides in this area with the launch of their Shop feature, which allows businesses to sell products directly on the platform. As more people turn to social media for shopping inspiration, it's important for brands to make their products easily accessible and purchasable on these platforms.
